The National Library of Drugs (NLM) is honored to announce its acquisition of the papers of Louis W. Sullivan, MD, previous United States Secretary of Well being and Human Products and services (HHS). This is the 1st assortment of papers from a previous HHS Secretary, obtained by the NLM and will be component of the archival collections of the world’s largest medical library and institute of the National Institutes of Well being (NIH).

Louis W. Sullivan is an African American doctor who served as secretary of HHS from 1989-1993 and as dean and president of Morehouse University of Drugs (MSM) from 1975-1989 and from 1993-2002. He is the author of The Morehouse Mystique: Becoming a Doctor at the Nation’s Latest African American Health care University (with Marybeth Gasman, 2012, Johns Hopkins College Press) and his autobiography Breaking Ground: My Life in Drugs (with David Chanoff, 2014, College of Georgia Press).
